So I have a friend who is super into baseball. They wanted me to keep reading this manga, Cross Game because they said it was really really really (really x1000 etc.) good. I had quit reading it about three years ago because Tsukishima Aoba, an amazing girl pitcher in the series starts playing center because the main character, a boy, Kitamura Kou, becomes better at pitching than her. This pissed me off so I stopped reading.
I am watching the anime of Cross Game now and I am not sure whether it is sexist. Part of the issue is it is more about death than baseball, or whether girls or boys are better at baseball. More updates on this later.
Did you know there is Women's Baseball? I didn't know until I watched Cross Game that women's baseball(NOT softball, but baseball) exists.
I think my friend believes girls will, in general, be naturally worse at sports than boys. I used to think this too, but now I believe otherwise. GUESS WHAT EVERYBODY??! IT'S A MYTH. A MYTH THEY TEACH US FROM KINDERGARTEN MIGHTY FIDDLESTICKS IT IS A MYTH. GIRLS AND BOYS BODIES ARE BODIES ARE DIFFERENT BUT ARE EQUALLY CAPABLE OF EXECELLING IN ATHLETICS. Kaboom.
